This past year of making custom content has been really fun, but it has also been extremely mentally draining. No matter how much I really want to get these packs out, I don’t feel like I can. I have 2 packs scheduled to come out between now and September of this year. I am overall just slightly disappointed in EA’s decision, but I understand where they are coming from What Will Change?įor the time being, I will be discontinuing early access, and I will be possibly adding a couple tiers that are strictly just for donations if you still want to support me, just so I don’t get bopped lol. I just fear what will happen to the people that do this for a living and truly deserve the money. I don’t need money for my content, and I honestly couldn’t care if I never made a single penny more from my content. I know it may not sound like it, but I personally am neutral on the topic when it comes to myself. I’m not trying to sound like a self-centered piece of trash, but i feel like the cc creators that do this for a living deserve to survive off of more than donations. As in, i feel like most people don’t really care whether or not the creator gets paid (most, not all).

I only have a couple thoughts about this, but I feel like when given the choice between a free item, and a free item with shipping, people would just choose the free item. It just really sucks that the selfish creators really ruined everything for the ones who really are just trying to share their work with the community and simply get something in return from it. There should be no reason to lock your content behind a paywall for more than 6 weeks, MAXIMUM. Their behavior is absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable in this community. Even now, they are still trying to find ways to get around the policy, and are trying to make people feel bad for them. All the creators that lock their cc behind paywalls for months, even years really deserve to not make money off of their work. In the long run, I do feel that this policy will probably be for the better, even if it is inhumane at the moment.

Many mods and cc items fix what is literally broke in the game, so why shouldn’t cc creators be paid for at this point, saving a game franchise and cleaning up EA’s mess. Secondly, The Sims 4 is a very lackluster game compared to the previous installments in the sims franchise, so cc and mods are necessary to many players. Content creators such as youtubers or streamers make money entirely off of other peoples’ work, and then adding something to it, which is no different than what sims custom content creators due. You may also say “it’s not your game, so you have no right to be making money off of it,” which again, is not a great argument. Some people may say “they chose to start making cc, no ones forcing them to do it.” which I feel is an invalid argument, because no one forces you to work period, so why should anyone be paid for going to a 9-5 job. That small window of time that creators charge money for their packs is what makes the creating worth it for many. But on the other hand, I personally feel that it is unjust to not allow a “reward” of sorts from working on making custom content and mods. On one hand, it’s good that creators that lock content behind permanent paywalls are no longer allowed to do so, and are required to make it free. I personally think that there are some good elements to the policy, and also some bad ones. I’m sure we are all aware of the rules EA has put in place regarding early access and having content behind paywalls, and we all have our own opinions and thoughts regarding these policies.
